Educational freedom is vital for Montana families searching for an accessible and affordable education option that best meets the needs of their children.
Tax Credit Scholarships (TCS) give parents the opportunity to move forward with the right option for their children, but a group of legislators are looking to disincentivize this program.
With the current tax credit of $1 for every $1 contributed, TCS only serves 667 students. If legislators move forward with reducing the cap to $0.50 for every $1 contributed, Montana families will suffer the consequences.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, over 3,665 students left public schools in Montana during the 2020-21 school year and parents' dissatisfaction with public schools continues to increase during the current school year. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to education, and we must ensure that students are able to develop their unique abilities and fulfill their potential.
