The mission in this special session should be clear: cut waste, trim the budget, and live within your means—just as every family in Colorado is doing right now.

The voters have spoken time and again in support of the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR). Even in your district. This taxpayer protection supported by a majority of Democrats, Republicans, and Unaffiliated voters.

Your duty is to protect your constituents from even more financial burdens of fees and taxes. Take a stand in support of people trying to make ends meet and say NO to any tax or fee increase.

Governor Polis called a special session to fill hundreds of millions of dollars in budget gaps from years of unrestrained spending that is finally catching up to politicians in Denver. Their focus? Finding ways to increase taxes and fees on hardworking families.

Axios reported state lawmakers started this effort earlier this year when they passed a bill to require people to pay state income taxes on overtime, even though the One Big Beautfiul Bill exempted it. It amounts to $180 million to $290 million in new taxes! Now, politicians are looking at requiring state income taxes on tips.

To make things worse, every day the Colorado legislature is in Special Session, it costs taxpayers $30,000. A three-day session will cost taxpayers $90,000!
