For the last 10 years, Michigan’s Right-to-Work law has given workers the freedom to choose whether or not to join a union. It has also helped to attract more businesses to our state and encouraged existing businesses to expand — resulting in more jobs for hardworking Michiganders.
No worker should be forced to join a union just in order to keep their job. That's why the Supreme Court guaranteed public-sector workers the freedom to work on their own terms. Returning to forced unionization for private-sector workers after a decade of these rights in Michigan would be unfair and hurt both our workers and our economy.
Michigan's economy is at a critical juncture. In 2021, Michigan began to lose population again, we ranked top in the country for small business closures and 6th for outbound moves.
Please defend the freedom for private-sector Michigan workers to choose whether or not to join a union. Please ensure Michigan remains competitive for jobs and business investment in our state.
