Help Students Succeed

In the words of George Washington Carver, “Education is the key that unlocks the golden door to freedom.”

Too often, that golden door remains closed to many in our communities. It is only fair that parents and students have access to the education that works for them. Policies, like the Invest in Kids Act, can open that golden door.

Education should be an experience fostering the unique potential of every student. The Invest in Kids Act is doing that right now by giving students from low-income families the financial resources they need to receive an education tailored towards their unique needs and the best learning environment available.

The Invest in Kids Act is under threat of sunsetting on January 1, 2025 if the program is not extended in 2023. More than 7,000 students are at risk of losing access to their school, with tens of thousands more on waiting lists who will never get that opportunity.

That’s why I’m encouraging you to support the extension of the Invest in Kids Act.

Without the Invest in Kids program, tens of thousands of low-income families across Illinois will not be able to afford a school that helps unleash the full potential of their children.

Please work to give more students from low-income families across Illinois equitable access to educational opportunities by supporting the Invest in Kids Act!

The bipartisan Invest in Kids Act was signed into law in 2017 and provides up to $100,000,000 in annual K-12 scholarships for kids from low-income families in Illinois to attend qualified private K-12 schools to meet their needs. Donations to the scholarship program are eligible for a 75% state tax credit.

Education should be an experience that fosters the unique potential of every student. The Invest in Kids Act gives students from low-income families the financial resources they need to find the best school to help them build the foundation for a bright future.

Through this program, more than 30,000 need-based scholarships have been awarded, with thousands more on waiting lists vying to gain access to the program.

Without the Invest in Kids program, tens of thousands of low-income families across Illinois would not be able to afford a school that helps unleash the full potential of their children.
