I'm urging you to support and pass the "Strategic Production Response Act" to relieve Americans from soaring energy prices today.

This crucial legislation would help protect the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) from misuse by prohibiting the Secretary of Energy from tapping the reserve for reasons other than a severe emergency.

It also requires that the federal government has a plan in place to increase oil and gas production on federal land and waters before tapping the reserve, increasing accountability for tapping into these essential resources.

The current administration has used the SPR to attempt to cover up the consequences of their energy policies, which have made it incredibly difficult to produce the energy Americans need here at home.

And what do we have to show for it?

Our ability to respond to a national security emergency has been massively depleted. Furthermore, millions of Americans are still struggling to afford to fill up their cars and afford the countless basics that depend on the price of gas.

The bottom line: this bill would go a long way toward preventing any administration from draining the reserve for political reasons.

So please, put the American people above politics by supporting the Strategic Production Response Act.
