We urge you to work with Congress to secure the border now! You and your allies have presided over have presided the worst border crisis in our history, with over 8 million illegal crossings since you took office. We, as a nation, must have knowledge and operational control of who is entering and who is leaving the country. Our federal government is supposed to create order by defending us from those that present risks to national security and our rule of law.
We need to secure the border now:
1. Around 16,000 officers guard the 1,954-mile-long U.S.-Mexico border. This is not enough to handle the constant flow of migrants trying to cross the border daily.
2. More than 1/4 of all CBP & ICE officers are considering leaving their job, morale is low, and there has been a concerning rise in suicides.
3. Approximately 1.7 million known “got-aways” crossed the southwestern border from when you took office until the end of Fiscal Year 2023.
By strengthening border security and imposing swift consequences for visa overstays, we send a clear message that we are serious about upholding the law. Please, set aside politics and work with Congress and groups like Americans for Prosperity to secure the border today.
Together, we can:
- Construct border wall in strategic locations where people can quickly escape into the interior or blend into the population;
- Hire more Border Patrol agents so fewer people sneak by; and
- Arm them with modern technology that allows for easy detection and tracking of migrants
