Call Out Lawmakers Who Opposed Oversight Reform
Our elected officials had the opportunity to stand for the people—and some chose bureaucracy instead.
House Bill 402 would restore legislative oversight over state agencies that issue economically significant regulations. The bill is simple: if a proposed rule will impose a major economic impact, then our elected representatives—not unelected bureaucrats—should have the final say.
This is about restoring accountability and ensuring that major decisions affecting North Carolinians' lives and livelihoods go through the people’s representatives.
And yet, some lawmakers voted against this basic principle of democracy and transparency. Instead of siding with families, job creators, and taxpayers, they sided with entrenched bureaucracy and unchecked government expansion.
