Support Price Transparency in Hospitals
There should be transparency in the cost of health care in Ohio
Whether buying a house, a car, or a meal, consumers get an abundance of information about the type and amount of costs they will face. When contracting a lawyer, accountant, plumber, or electrician, consumers know what their hourly rates are and can get an accurate estimate of costs. Yet when it comes to health care, hospitals make it difficult for patients to know exactly how much they will pay, and how much their insurance will be charged.
Americans deserve to know how much their care will cost, how much their insurance will be billed, and how much they will have to pay - ahead of time. Hospitals must change the way they do business. Today, their processes are designed to maximize their reimbursement rates, and not designed to maximize the quality of care. Price transparency will help patients, families, and consumers to make informed decisions.
